2004 SEASON
As a redshirt freshman, Demetrius played in only four games before being sidelined with a season-ending ankle injury.
2005 SEASON
Demetrius played in all ten games as a back-up. Despite only starting in two games, he was still able to run for over 550 yards, with an average of 5.5 yards per carry. Best games were against Lindenwood University (22 Att. 134 yards and 2 touchdowns, 2 catches for 36 yards and a touchdown), Culver-Stockton College (15 Att. 103 yards and a touchdown “only playing in the first half”), and Avila University (4 Att. 89 yards and 2 touchdowns). Demetrius also won Player of the Game verse Lindenwood University (Team Award).
2006 SEASON
Demetrius decided to sit the 2006 season out, to be able to spend more time with his family. During that time Demetrius played semi-pro football with the Orange County Falcons. He led the Falcons to their third straight playoff. Playing only one season with the Falcons, he ran for 1372 yards and 14 touchdowns.
2007 SEASON
Demetrius decided to go back to school to finish his college degree and his last two years of eligibility for football. He went on to lead Tabor College in rushing yards and rushing attempts. He ran for over 800 yards. He achieved second place for all purposes yards in a single game with (33 Att. for 220 rushing yards and 40 yards receiving). He finished the year ranked number 42 in NAIA Division I in Rushing Yds per Game (71.700).
2008 SEASON
Entering his senior year, the team and Demetrius had very high hopes. However, due to an ankle injury and suffering a broke bone in his face, he was unable to do so. In the first three games of the season he was the leading rusher in the KCAC. Despite the injury, he was able to run for 500 yards, 123 yards receiving, and have 151 kick return yards. Best games were against Ottawa University (18 Att for 100 yards and a touchdown) Sterling College (13 Att for 184 yards and 2 touchdowns), and Kansas Wesley University (6 Att for 117 yards and a touchdown, 4 catches for 56 yards). He was named Offensive Player of the Game against Ottawa University and Sterling College. He also served as team captain.
HIGH SCHOOL
Demetrius attended Oak Ridge High School in Orlando, Florida. Despite only playing two years of varsity football, he was still able to catch some D1 Colleges attention. However, due to his grades and low test scores he was not accepted to any of them. As a junior he ran for over 1000 yards, and rushed for 13 touchdowns (Winning Best Running Back Award team award). He finished his senior season ranked number 66 out of Florida’s top 100, where he ran for over 1100 yards and over 10 rushing touchdowns. The highlight of his high school career is when he ran over 260 yards, 5 rushing touchdown, and had a 92 yard called back for holding (352 yards rush and 6 touchdowns) in one game. He won Orlando Sentinel Athlete of the Week, and was also awarded the Touchdown Club Award. Along with those awards, he won team Offensive MVP and the Best Running Back Award. A sports writer once compared Demetrius’ running style to Emmett Smith’s.
PERSONAL
Parents are Henry and Regina Cox, wife Ciara, children Demetrius, Demarius, and D’myia Cox. Both of Demetrius’ parents were standout athletes in high school, his mother was known for her speed on the track and his father was a standout Basketball player and track runner. In addition to that, his uncles were standout wrestlers, and one was a standout football player who played with the great Nate Newton.
