DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Eric Wicks, Wheeling Wildcats
Wicks’ prowess in the defensive secondary helped Wheeling book its first-ever victory in CIFL play on Sunday afternoon. Wicks, along with teammate Vaughn Rivers, are the first Wildcats to win a weekly award after helping Wheeling defeat Miami Valley 52-28 at Hobart Arena in Troy, Ohio.
A former Big East Defensive Player of the Week, Wicks picked off two passes and had two pass breakups for the Wildcats on Sunday afternoon. His 44-yard pick-six midway through the fourth quarter put the Wildcats on top 39-16. He finished with five solo tackles in the contest.
